Description:
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE SUPPORTABILITY ENGINEER
- Experience in using engineering documentation (such as drawings and technical records)
- Understanding of change management and the control of project and engineering documentation
- Ability to work independently, challenge the status quo and make judgments based on incomplete information is essential
- Strong communication skills and ability to converse at all levels
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE SUPPORTABILITY ENGINEER
- HNC/BTEC Level 4 qualified in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics discipline however we will consider applicants that can demonstrate relevant vocational experience if this isn’t held
- Hold, or be willing to proactively work towards, professional recognition as an Incorporated Engineer with an appropriate Engineering Institution

THE ROLE
As a Supportability Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll join a team working on one of the most complex support arrangements in operation in the UK today by ensuring that you know what is fitted to every Royal Navy submarine, where it is fitted, who supplies it and how it is fitted.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide support at the Waterfront and be responsible for design information management. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the configuration data and datum pack records for all items as fitted to Royal Navy submarines in accordance with a Configuration Management Plan
- Maintaining a record of the status of extant submarine technical documentation to ensure quality assurance is achieved and maintained.
- Ensuring all design change management documentation is managed and maintained correctly within the submarine definition database
- Working as part of a team as a subject matter expert across Babcock, the Royal Navy, Ministry of Defence (MoD) and industry partners
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
