About the Role
HSDC is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging individual to manage the SEND Employability Hub and Supported Internships programme at HSDC.
As part of a new pilot programme the role will be focused on supporting young people with a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities who are not in receipt of an EHCP into employment, monitoring the progress of students, building sustainable relationships with local employers, and maximising progression opportunities preparing students for working life.
Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Working with the VFL Manager in the planning and delivery of a highly relevant SEND employability curriculum offer, particularly focussing on the needs of employers.
  • Engaging prospective interns/parents and employers through attendance at promotional events at college.
  • Ensuring that placements are well managed and that the students are well prepared and supported. Supporting the leaners to find quality WEX and in the production of a Vocational Profile
  • Building effective relationships with learners, managers, teachers and employers.
  • Participating in professional development as part of the SEND employability team.
  • Supporting and coaching students to develop employability and Functional skills with a variety of settings including the workplace and on community projects

Requirements

You will need:

  • English and maths to GCSE grade C or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of the current skills employers are looking for in a range of vocational careers.
  • Good knowledge of how students can develop and gain evidence of these skills through internships
  • Experience of working with learners with specific learning difficulties / disabilities
  • Experience of working with young people in an education or training environment
  • Good knowledge of how students can develop and gain evidence of these skills through internships.
  • Level 3 Certificate - British Association for Supported Employment (BASE)

For more experienced teachers, or those who have completed the Award, you will be welcome to join our Certificate in Education or PGCE course through our partnership with Portsmouth University. You will receive a financial contribution and a reduction in teaching time to support you in becoming a fully qualified teacher!
