Description:

DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Five (5) years’ experience operating drills in an Arctic drill/blast rock greenfield construction environment, i.e.: quarries, roads, plant sites, tank & camp pads, containment ponds, frozen core dams & open pits. Two (2) years’ experience operating Di650, Di550 & DX800 equipment in a mining/blasting environment; and
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate Sandvik Di650, Di550, & DX800 DTH blast hole drills to meet daily blasting plan and production targets;
  • Ensure that blast holes are drilled accurately according to the blast design;
  • Assist blast crew when required and carry out any other tasks as directed by the supervisor;
  • Operate two‐way radios to maintain communication and report any mechanical issues;
  • Conduct pre & post operational inspections on equipment, clean, lubricate and refill equipment; and
  • Participate in safety toolbox talks and follow all site policies & procedures to ensure compliance;
