Description:
Robert Half is in search of a Surgical Scheduler/Coordinator to join our client’s team in the Farmingdale, New Jersey area. This role involves handling the administrative aspects of surgical procedures for a smoother and more efficient process for our patients. This role necessitates strong communication skills, multitasking abilities, and a firm understanding of medical terminology and scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Manage communications with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure all necessary information is obtained and shared
- Schedule operating room time in accordance with physician scheduling protocols and transmit required documents to outside facilities
- Coordinate surgical procedures which include scheduling surgeries, pre-operative appointments, and post-operative follow-ups
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient eligibility for surgery
- Prepare surgical charts, consent forms, and other necessary documents
- Assist with patient registration and check-in process
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgical procedures, including documentation of pre-operative instructions and post-operative care plans
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate coding and billing for surgical procedures
- Offer exceptional customer service to patients by resolving issues, answering inquiries, and providing support throughout the surgical process
- Coordinate all business and clinical documentation prior to surgery and prepare documentation for physician signature
- Proficiency in scheduling, particularly in the context of surgical procedures
- Familiarity with various surgical procedures and the ability to coordinate them effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing schedules and coordinating appointments
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Experience or familiarity with medical documentation and the ability to maintain accurate records
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise between patients, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions quickly when scheduling conflicts arise
- Familiarity with medical software systems and proficiency in using them for scheduling purposes
- A willingness to stay updated on changes in surgical procedures and healthcare regulations that may impact scheduling.
