THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is looking for a candidate with these qualities! We are searching for a committed Survey Technician to join our survey corps in various capacities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The responsibilities of this position include setting up, operating, adjusting, cleaning, and maintaining various survey instruments to determine existing or design features and structures. Additionally, the role requires utilizing Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers to establish mapping and survey grade locations in various modes, recording data with handheld field computers, and assisting the Survey Technician Supervisor in troubleshooting and downloading survey data using laptop computers in the field. You will also be making locations in the field regarding location, recording of controlling points, and topography points.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or
  • Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
  • One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate’s degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
