We are looking to appoint an experienced surveyor to work in a busy environment supporting the delivery of numerous projects.
As a proactive Surveyor the post holder will support and deliver the operational duties of their service/business area. The post holder will work with colleagues across the organisation in line with Kirklees Council’s core behaviours and values and contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s purpose, vision and objectives, ensuring positive outcomes for the business and Kirklees Council customers.
A key component of the role will be to directly contribute to delivering high performance and continuous improvement within the service/business area in line with Kirklees Council’s key objectives to deliver a customer focused service.
You will support our Senior Quantity Surveyor and other General Managers across a range of operational areas within Property Services, such as Empty homes, Planned capital works, day to day responsive teams and Mechanical/Electrical team.
The post holder will primarily be responsible for undertaking surveys on any type of properties to assess and schedule repair and refurbishment work. The post will also involve management and supervision of small refurbishment and conversion projects to increase the supply of affordable housing and organisation of work in non-Housing properties.
You will need to be able to work within established procedures, but as an organisation we are open to challenge if it is felt that these can be improved and be able to plan and manage your own workload, including keeping accurate records. The post holder will be required to deputise for other Surveyors as required.

Key skills, include:

  • Good communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with site-based teams and client departments.
  • Appreciation of the customer role and needs from their properties’.
  • IT skills for creating of estimates, target costs and regular valuations that culminate in a final account.
  • Familiar with Contract Procedure rules with relation to procurement
  • Make a valued contribution to the team and be a supportive team member.
  • Ability to work within time constraints and prioritise own work.
