Responsibilities:

Our Lake Vermont Project situated 19kms outside of Dysart, in Central Queensland is currently seeking an experienced Surveyor to join our collaborative Technical Services team to work across an 8/6 roster. This project is one of Thiess’ largest and longest running projects.

Reporting into the project’s Senior Surveyor this role will see you:

  • Set out designs and provide advice to operators to ensure the excavation process complies with the mine plan.
  • Calculate volumes for EOM claims (coal, waste and topsoil) and to allow accurate analysis of performing or underperforming machines.
  • Provide accurate and efficient surveys of excavation blocks (roof, floor, heave etc) coal seam roof (and floors if required) to allow for accurate recording of mined waste, coal, overall progress of material mined and remaining volumes
  • Assist in monitoring high wall stability and maintain records of high wall information as per the Geotechnical Principal Hazard Management Plan (PHMP) and/or Client’s request.
  • Provide comprehensive geospatial information to allow accident investigators to determine influencing factors in an accident, and to complete compliance reports.
  • Provide data for the creation of statutory plans.
  • Integrate survey data with information from Mining Engineers, Geologists and other relevant staff (including Client)
  • Maintain and update the survey digital database and ensure a stable communication and reporting system exists for the storage and transfer of all survey information.
  • Maintain and ensure calibration of all onsite survey equipment to the required standard.
  • Maintain and service all onsite surveying equipment to ensure reliability and ongoing operation.
