QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in engineering, environmental science, business or similar field preferred
- Minimum of 2-3 years sustainability analysis experience
- Enthusiastic about driving change in sustainability, ESG, and CSR
- A working knowledge of Green House Gas (GHG) accounting and net zero principles, the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and common environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting frameworks
- Develop operational sustainability metrics and scorecards, provide leadership and management with updates and opportunities for improvement
- A working knowledge of product and corporate sustainability certification frameworks and processes
- Experience with environmental regulatory frameworks and developing compliance required record keeping
- Experience of working with large datasets and the ability to synthesize and interpret data into meaningful and material conclusions
- Capacity to work across organizational structures and with diverse teams in a fast-paced environment
- Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills and the ability to learn new technology applications.
- MS Office experience including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
- Can drive multiple tasks simultaneously to completion
- Project management skills and an understanding of all marketing tactics and their purpose
- Resourceful team player and a “can-do” attitude who can participate in and lead efforts across disciplines and cross-functional teams
- Excellent time management skills and ability to adhere to schedules/deadlines
- Technical skills: MS Office Suite, Excel, WordPress, photo editing and page layout skills a plus
- Must be dependable and safety oriented
- Must be flexible in working hours, including different shifts as required
- Outstanding written & verbal communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of an organization

- Experience with plastics and polymers a plus

Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the Sustainability Analyst is to advance HC Companies Sustainability Vision and Mission by evaluating and enhancing our organization’s sustainability efforts. You will conduct thorough analyses of environmental, social, and governance factors, develop sustainability strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement initiatives supporting our corporate responsibility commitments.
The Sustainability Analyst will play a critical role in evaluating and enhancing HC Companies’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices by conducting thorough analyses, assessing the impact of business operations on sustainability metrics, and identifying areas for improvement to drive change. Responsibilities also include monitoring and reporting on key sustainability indicators, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to the development of ethical and environmentally responsible practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop sustainability and ESG data collection, metrics and dashboards to effectively measure the companys sustainability performance
- Present data in a clear and relatable manner to cross functional teams to guide action plans and advance improvement strategies
- Researching and staying updated on industry best practices, regulations, and trends related to sustainability in the plastic and horticulture industries
- Responsible for attaining and maintaining product and corporate certifications
- Responsible for gathering and maintaining audit-ready records for sustainability related regulatory obligations, marketing claims, and stakeholder inquiries
- Engaging with external partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to promote sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.
- Lead by example and perform all job duties in accordance with The HC Companies values
- Develop primary knowledge of the marketplace (users, applications, products, competition, and channels)
- Respond to phone calls and e-mails in a timely fashion
- Willing to learn the industry and help us maintain and grow our marketplace position
- Attend business meetings and trainings as required
- Perform other administrative tasks and special projects as assigned
