Description:
The RPS Sustainability team is growing and we are looking for a talented and ambitious Sustainability Consultant to join the team.
The successful candidate will be part of our leading Sustainability team based at one of our Republic of Ireland offices (Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kilkenny or Sligo).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An honours degree (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications), or equivalent professional qualification in engineering or science;
- A minimum of 2-5 years working closely or directly with the built environment industry (preferable); and,
- Membership of an appropriate professional body e.g., IEMA, ICRS (an advantage) and working towards chartered status.
Experience:
- Experience in working with engineering teams to develop low carbon design options.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant Irish and European climate, energy and environmental policy and legislation;
- Experience in undertaking carbon/energy management assessments (i.e., GHG protocol, PAS 2080:2023), and using data software (i.e., OneClick LCA, etc);
- Experience in collating and analysing sustainability data (i.e., carbon, circular economy, biodiversity enhancements, social value, etc.) for corporate reporting requirements;
- Experience in sustainable supply chain initiatives and embedding sustainability data requirements into procurement/contract management;
- Understanding and awareness of built environment best practice and standards (i.e., BREEAM, BREEAM Infrastructure),
- High standard of technical report writing skills;
- Excellent communication skills;
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on climate and sustainability projects for our portfolio of public and private sector clients. Working in a dynamic team environment, you will be developing climate and sustainability solutions which make a real difference for climate action, resource efficiency and biodiversity protection. The types of activities the role will undertake may include:
- Undertaking GHG emissions inventories (including scope 1, 2 and 3; whole-life cycle (WLC)), ongoing data management and validation;
- Preparing project and organisational carbon/sustainability strategies for clients, including Net Zero Carbon roadmaps and Science Based Target setting;
- Advising on low carbon renewable energy technologies within the built environment sector;
- Advising on Life Cycle Assessment of products and / or infrastructure elements and projects;
- Leading sustainability workshops on design and non-design projects; and,
- Integrating with multi-disciplinary teams across RPS providing sustainability advice and guidance.
