ABOUT THE ROLE

Sustainability lies at the very foundations of the Bamford Collection. Although the group has grown and diversified extensively over the last 20 years, it continues to place sustainability and doing business the right way, at the centre of its thinking, planning and development.
As one of the earliest adopters of organic farming methods and food production, Daylesford Organic continues to operate with an organic first mentality and leads the way in sustainable food production and retail.
The business has an influential voice in sustainable farming and is continuously exploring better and more sustainable ways to operate our farm shops in London
and the Cotswolds. Alongside this, we make it a priority to source from other producers that are aligned with our ethos and operating standards in order to deliver products that look, taste, and do good for our customers.
Sustainability at Bamford has always been about finding innovative and sustainable solutions to delivering beautiful and efficacious products for our customers. The challenge of identifying natural, organic and highly effective ingredients to produce award-winning luxury bath, body and home fragrance ranges is one that continually drives our teams. The quality of our Bamford products and treatments has been further recognised by the international luxury hotel and hospitality groups who choose us as their spa and product partners. Bamford clothing was conceived with quality, durability, and enduring style in mind. Minimising production miles, and utilising natural fibres sourced from partners who share our ethics, allows us to create beautiful and timeless collections that are also biodegradable. Our approach of working with small and specialist producers has also seen us contribute to the continuation of traditional fabrication crafts and techniques.
Daylesford Stays comprises our four traditional Cotswold pubs and restaurants and our collection of self-catering cottages. Our sites having been redeveloped using natural materials and traditional building methods, with an equal focus on efficiency and the careful management of natural resources. With comfort and warm hospitality at their core, and utilising many of our Daylesford and Bamford products, our dining rooms and
accommodations are stocked with organic and sustainable food, drink and furnishings.
Daylesford and Bamford were certified BCorp in 2023 and our goal is to build on the positive results of these first assessments and work towards accreditation for the whole of Bamford Collection.
Alongside our in-business work there is an organisational focus on our work with the community and within our own teams to foster education, raise awareness and develop understanding and advocacy for our sustainability mission. Since its inception, our founder and owner Carole Bamford has been consistent and clear that sustainability is the reason our business exists and that it should inform our decisions and strategy. In 2024 the three business units (Daylesford Organic, Bamford and Daylesford Stays) came together formally as Bamford Collection, prompting a decision to unify our sustainability efforts under the leadership of a Director of Sustainability with the experience and knowledge to lead, inspire and engage our teams to collectively achieve our goals.
The incoming Director of Sustainability will be charged with the creation of a clearly articulated group strategy that encompasses all areas of sustainability and responsible business. They will set out plans and timelines for the delivery of its objectives and quantitative measures of success.
An engaging leader and communicator, the Director of Sustainability will lead and inspire our teams in a drive towards an ever more sustainable and responsible business. They will encourage debate, share their knowledge and incite positive actions for change, both internally and in externally.

  • Active listener and engaged collaborator, who will take the time to understand our diversified business and seek the contribution of others to ensure collective ownership of our plans
