Sustainability Program Consultant

SPECIFICALLY, YOU WILL:

• Responsible for all recycling programs (electronics, cardboard bales, writing instruments, batteries, pallets, ink / toner cartridges) and stores:
• Drafting, translating, and sending communications related to changes to / expansions of programs, and fielding inquiries from stores regarding same.
• Dialoguing with stores where program issues have arisen (i.e., misuse of program, program not used for prolonged period).
• Reporting: partner with Enerfrog on comprehensive dashboard and reporting tools.
• Establish metrics: use performance data to build and sustain communication/marketing opportunities for Staples/Staples Professional.
• Responsible to resolve all site inquiries and issues related to waste / recycling / return-to-retail programs.
• Content owner: current program-related literature on Staples Hub website, including information on Environmental Handling Fees.
• Work cross functionally with product stewardship teams to ensure harmonized approach to fees/communications/programs.Point of contact for sourcing on subsequent changes and or new programs required to drive compliance and diversion.

Responsible to create and manage existing and new sustainability programs and services (waste, recycling). This includes the creation of the scope, metrics and all necessary communications to our locations. A highly collaborative role that will partner with merchandising, marketing, communications and facilities, Staples Professional and a variety of external partners. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (i.e. landfill bans. Etc.)
