The University of Calgary’s Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Development (SEDV) is a multidisciplinary offering of the School of Public Policy in collaboration with the Schulich School of Engineering, the Haskayne School of Business, the Faculty of Law, and the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. This interdisciplinary, comprehensive graduate program provides a holistic approach to energy and environmental management through a cross section of courses taught by faculty from across the university.
The SEDV Graduate Program invites applications for sessional instructor appointments to teach the following courses:
Winter 2026
SEDV 633 - Energy and Climate Policy
SEDV 633 explores the role of energy and climate policy in the changing energy systems and as tools to overcome barriers to change. Students are introduced to the policy making process and the actors involved along with a broad range of policy tools and how they can be applied. Both the role of historical climate policy and the current policy environment, both domestically and internationally, is given. An introduction to approaches to evaluating policy effectiveness is also provided.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The SEDV Program is seeking a candidate with excellent teaching credentials and a demonstrated background in sustainable energy and environmental issues. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching, particularly at the post-graduate level, and ideally hold an earned doctoral degree in an area closely related to the particular course of interest. Previous involvement with the SEDV program is an asset.
