Description:
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems or an equivalent business degree. Master’s Degree preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in information technology with a minimum of 10 years in data strategy and data management.
- 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience leading diverse teams.
- Solid experience and expertise in engineering, systems, and architecting platforms for the enterprise.
- Demonstrated track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, high-quality systems.
- Possess deep expertise for managing complex projects with bottom line impact.
- Experienced in leading the software development life cycle processes and best practices; experienced with Agile development methods and working in a complex, service-oriented software development arena.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex systems and system strategies with team members to build support and understanding of objectives.
- Experience with Microsoft application suite.
- Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate communications, objectives, and tasks between internal and external resources.
- In-depth knowledge of Security governance, security technology and cyber-attack defenses.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to non-technical audiences, and business concepts to technologists.
- Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.
- Ability to influence, orchestrate and drive change across a global organization.

Responsibilities:
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE ROLE:
ORBCOMM is seeking a SVP Global Technology Services (GTS) that will report to the CFO. This is a unique leadership opportunity. The SVP will work with individual teams to ensure all systems can scale efficiently and at a pace that matches the increasing demands of the growing business. They will identify and pursue cross-functional opportunities to integrate technical solutions and ensure ORBCOMM builds the best solutions to meet the needs of our customers without putting restrictions on individual teams. They will also lead the proactive identification of common problem spaces across teams and be at the center of all key system level decisions. This role will be located in either Sterling, VA or Ottawa, Ontario, Canada working a hybrid schedule.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain current and future infrastructures and network management systems and assess possibility of outsourcing; for both the Corporate environment and the Cloud Operations team supporting our production environment
- Responsible for Cybersecurity including the protection of ORBCOMM’s infrastructure (cloud and on-prem) and applications, edge devices, networks, and data prevention of data breaches, monitoring, and response to cyber-attacks.
- Create IT policies and operational procedures that affect the systems’ data, operations, and reliability of the infrastructure.
- Provide Deskside Support to employees regarding issues or questions related to computer hardware and devices and provide best practices and service level metrics for continuous improvements
- Deliver innovative technology initiatives that drive revenue, increase competitiveness, and improve efficiency in line with business strategy.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s internal and external-facing technologies and systems.
- Develop and administer best practices for master data management and integration.
- Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies.
- Support business and IT strategic planning.
- Develop and communicate Enterprise Applications standards and policies.
- Review new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with IT standards, policies, and architectural plans.
- Review IT procurement plans for compliance with IT standards and architectural plans.
- Ensure that architectural governance is a fair, consistent and transparent process.
- Identify architectural risks and propose alternatives and solutions.
- Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
- Survey the industry to identify best practices and new technologies applicable to our business.
