Description:
The postholder will work as part of a dynamic team supporting the delivery of effective cancer services across the SWAG Cancer Alliance. The role provides leadership to the SWAG Cancer Alliance for Patient & Public Engagement and inequalities programmes. The postholder will ensure meaningful engagement with patients, the public and partners including addressing areas of inequalities to improve the quality and experience for cancer patients across the SWAG footprint. This includes delivery of transformational change, quality improvements, and added value using effective and sustainable approaches, within and across organisations.
This includes developing, co-ordinating and supporting the SWAG Patient & Public Forum. The post holder will maintain a network of Patient & Public Involvement and inequalities across stakeholder organisations and participate in national groups representing the SWAG Cancer Alliance. This includes managing and overseeing specific SWAG Cancer Alliance led projects (including staff) relating to Patient & Public Involvement and inequalities. The postholder will work collaboratively with Macmillan and other key stakeholders.
This role will involve complex negotiation and influence with senior service directors, clinicians, managers and commissioners at both an operational and strategic level across the geography. The post holder will have the ability to think, act and respond quickly to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a clear view of overall priorities. The ability to work at a senior level in a cross-cutting multi-organisational setting, identifying joint aims and objectives; facilitating organisational and culture change and the delivery of outcomes is vital to the success of this role. The role supports the business of driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service.
The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery. The role will champion the importance of and lead on developing and delivering a work programme that achieves the aspirations of the Cancer Strategy and Long-Term plan relevant to Patient & Public Involvement and inequalities. The post holder will lead, develop and implement the agreed SWAG Cancer Alliance engagement and inequalities strategy including activity plans in partnership with all stakeholders. This includes providing strategic and operational engagement advice to the SWAG Cancer Alliance
