THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for the Systems Administrator to join an innovative and growing municipality. Reporting directly to the Information Services Supervisor, the Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Sturgeon County’s computing infrastructure. Computing infrastructure includes networking, communications, hosting solutions both cloud and on-premises, and user device configuration. This position works in a team environment to provide operational support and direction to the County’s staff in the use of computing and telecommunications technology. This position will also work with the Project Managers to provide technical expertise for special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary diploma in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience, including in a Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office environment. Preference is given to those with more experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Microsoft Azure
• Microsoft Office 365 Administration
• VoIP administration
• Experience in a municipal environment is an asset.
• CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certifications are considered assets.
• CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification is considered an asset.
• Relevant telecommunications certifications and experience are considered assets.
• Vendor certifications and experience are considered assets.

OTHER RELATED DUTIES

• Works closely with Project Managers to provide technical expertise on special projects.
• Remains up to date on advanced solutions applicable to the municipal setting.
• Responsible for creating Technical Documentation for all changes/improvements and implementations.
• Adheres to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.
