QUALIFICATIONS
- Three year’s relevant experience with a college diploma in Computer Science
- Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner
- Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Ability to produce a high quality and quantity of work product, occasionally under tight timelines
- Ability to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary and stress in a business-like manner
- Knowledge of Cisco VOIP systems (CUCM, UCCX), basic scripting, remote server management tools, and email systems would be an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server OS’s, Netapp storage, Cisco Server hardware, VMware virtual environments, and Cisco network hardware,.
- Ability to handle confidential information and use good judgment.
- Flexibility to provide after hours support is required. Travel to other offices and the data centre is a possibility.
The starting range for this role is $67,000 to $80,000. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor and maintain office networks Canada wide, email, and other system accounts, including performing daily, weekly and monthly checks on the infrastructure, i.e. network security and technical problems, monitoring disk space, memory, percentage utilization, servers, backups and backup log, in accordance with the Firm’s policies and procedures.
- Provide 3rd level user support on a priority basis, including Service Desk and technical support services with other members of the IT team
- Initial set-up and monitoring of network shared directories
- Assist with the implementation of standard processes and procedures to support Canada wide operations.
- Recommend hardware and software upgrades and make recommendations regarding IT infrastructure growth, including preparing and conducting software deployments and update network utilities/software ensuring patches, files etc. are current.
- Schedule maintenance and ensure notices are sent in a timely manner.
- Update all infrastructure utilities/software ensuring patches, files etc. are current.
- Maintain and update infrastructure documentation for Infrastructure systems. ie IP Addresses, IT Knowledge Base articles, procedure documents.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining remote communications, wide-area facilities, Backup, cloud, and e-mail services.
- Participate in and/or lead IT projects; assist in the managing of projects including, scope and deliverables, estimation of effort, costs and resources, scheduling, and communications.
- Participate in an On Call rotation for 24/7 infrastructure support
- Any other duties as required.
