Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Command Cyber Solutions (a federal government contractor) is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator – Operating Systems tojoin our IT team in support of a client located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining our large-scale operating system infrastructure, ensuring system stability, security, and optimal performance across multiple platforms, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Servers. The role will work within a team culture of Passion, Trust, and Empathy.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or relevant equivalent experience
- Minimum four (4) to five (5) years of experience in system administration, with a focus on RHEL and Windows operating systems
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- CompTIA Security+
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Active Secret Clearance required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Required:
- Strong knowledge of operating system administration, security, and performance tuning on RHEL and Windows platforms
- Experience with configuration management tools, virtualization technologies, and containerization
- Experience with monitoring and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred:
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification
- Knowledge of cloud migration and deployment, with a focus on RHEL and Windows system administration in the cloud
- Experience with orchestration tools and containerization, such as Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Azure DevOps
- Experience with scripting languages, such as PHP, Python and PowerShell
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, such as NIST

Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain highly redundant, scalable, enterprise-class systems and services on RHEL and Windows Server platforms
- Implement and manage configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) for automation and standardization of server builds, configurations, and updates
- Monitor system performance, security, and availability using tools like ServiceNow, Remedy, and Jira
- Troubleshoot complex issues and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for RHEL and Windows systems
- Apply, manage, and perform system upgrades, patches, and security updates, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements
- Manage operating systems within virtualization environments, including VMware and container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and improve existing systems, with a focus on cloud migration and deployment to AWS / Azure
- Develop and maintain documentation for systems and processes, including system administration guides and troubleshooting procedures
- Implement and validate Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and ensure vulnerability and anti-virus software agents and definitions are current
- Manage user access, maintain disk space on NAS and SAN architectures, and perform change management following established policies and procedures
