Description:
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in computer Engineering or computer science.
Experience with the administration of Linux servers.
Experience in full-stack web development.
Certification in RHCE or RHCSA.
Experience with, or that demonstrates a knowledge of, higher education IT environments.
SUMMARY
The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for a Systems Analyst II. The systems Analyst II will help in the specification, design, development and maintenance of various web based and automated systems for the Veterinary Medical Center and our Veterinary Pathology Departments. In addition, this role will help with some system administration with the majority of the time spent in Linux and a small portion in Windows. The successful candidate will work closely with the clinic business and Medical Records offices, as well as with some external stakeholders including vendors and the ISU foundation.

Responsibilities:
- Deploys, maintains, and troubleshoots systems infrastructure and services including email, storage, and identity and access management.
- Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Collects and writes technical requirements for new systems.
- Analyzes and implements an emerging technology that affects Iowa State University campus-wide.
- Modifies, maintains, and updates complex software.
- Prepares and conducts system and programming tests which may require the interfacing of diverse hardware and software.
- Reviews potential applications and designs hardware/software interfaces.
- Implements best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance.
- Assignments are generally of a difficult technical nature and may involve project leadership activities.
