Description:
We are seeking to appoint a Systems Developer for Lancaster University’s School of Computing and Communications. We require a person with good technical background in systems development and systems administration using modern orchestration tools.
You will work in the Systems Team within the School of Computing and Communications. You should be positive and self-motivated, wanting to learn through working closely with the team, wider School, ISS, University, and external sources and with a well-developed and deep knowledge of modern development practices and systems administration.
Proficient in modern agile secure programming techniques developing applications to support the school teaching, research and engagement activities.
Work closely with our academic staff, developing and maintaining novel teaching and research environments deployed in our physical and virtual labs.
Develop and maintain our orchestration tools including ansible, working closely with our systems administrator to manage school infrastructure.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of containerised technologies to school activities and specifically student and research projects.
Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation for any developed system or software application.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
You must have strong experience in developing applications in python, Linux administration including shell scripting, ansible orchestration and docker container and cd/ci pipeline development. It is also desirable you have a good background understanding of networking.
