Description:

Job Title: Systems Engineer
Location: Broad Oak, Portsmouth; or Frimley, Surrey
Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of integrating software and hardware systems
  • Ability to work in stand-alone situations and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of system engineering principals and concepts

Desirable:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • Experience of commissioning

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the implementation of system design changes
  • General systems engineering activities across the engineering lifecycle
  • Perform specific systems engineering activities in support of the project phase, predominantly on the right-hand side of the engineering lifecycle V-Model, with a particular focus on testing, integration and commissioning
  • Act as a point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives
  • Provide input to support the production of progress and quality reporting tools and metrics
  • Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
  • Maintaining a level of SQEP for the role through personal and professional development
