POSITION SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer provides effective and timely operational and technical support for core systems, such as Server, Storage, Virtualization, backup and recovery, and core Microsoft platforms, etc. This includes working with partners to design, test, plan and implement foundational infrastructure technology. You will ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing foundational/core infrastructure.

  • Working experience with networks, windows server environments, virtual server environments, Microsoft eco system – on-prem and cloud
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with strong emphasis on following procedures, sharing best practices and documentation creation and upkeep
  • Industry intermediate to advanced level certifications such as Microsoft VMware and/or other core infrastructure solutions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle

Responsibilities:

  • Be a technical leader to the team and organization for advanced IT services.
  • Leads in planning and implementing changes to foundational/core infrastructure
  • Provides advanced level support for troubleshooting of large-scale problems
  • Proactively analyzing and identifying trends that may lead to better performance, proactive problem resolution, and capacity planning.
  • Collaborating with project leads to determine how requirements will be approached and managed for infrastructure requirements. Always with a Cyber Security Mindset
  • Assist in designing and implementing new server, storage, core systems, backup and recovery solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current infrastructure
  • Installing, configuring, and supporting infrastructure equipment including physical and virtual servers, storage, backup and recovery and core software solutions, rack and stack in the datacentre.
  • Partner with industry solution providers, lead requirement needs, test and validate solutions Procuring infrastructure equipment and managing subcontractors involved with installation.
  • Maximizing system performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades
  • Standard setting, Planning and Updating systems equipment to the latest firmware / OS / Driver releases, keeping systems up to date with supportable and stable releases.
  • Reporting system status, stability, and trends to key stakeholders
  • Other duties and tasks, as well as involvement with other IT projects as required and assigned.
  • Provide guidance to IT peers to ensure cyber security, IT infrastructure standards, compatibility, scalability, and capacity are known and planned.
