Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing support for Vertex’s Information Technology Windows systems and network computing infrastructure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- 5+ years of direct operating system administration, support and design including Windows, Active Directory, Group Policies, and patch management
- Experience with enterprise Disaster Recovery exercises and best practices
- Experience with VMWare ESX and Virtual Infrastructure Client
- Experience with EMC/Brocade Storage-Area Network (SAN) design and administration
- Proven experience in development of enterprise Windows strategies and associated technologies
- Demonstrable ability to articulate design points and underlying architectural elements while developing a business case in support of enterprise Windows strategies
- Multi-platform enterprise monitoring implementation experience
- Experience with multi-platform enterprise backup systems such as Veritas Netbackup or TSM
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while supporting multiple technical areas of a complex computing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven self-discipline and motivation
- Ability to maintain expected attendance at work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages is required.
- Ability to manage job-related and personal stress effectively.
- Must manage time and priorities effectively by completing tasks in a timely manner.
- Sufficient knowledge of business communications, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail, and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.
- Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends based on business need.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or similar technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six (6) plus years of experience in IT

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver Information Technology expertise to Vertex business projects
- Identify relevant technologies and implement solutions based upon subject-matter expertise and experience within a Windows computing environment.
- Be responsible for delivery of results against commitments while participating on cross-functional teams as required.
- Confer regularly with development staff to evaluate hardware and software needs as it relates to operational and performance requirements.
- Support in-place solutions in technology space
- Provide technical support for Vertex’s Information Technology Infrastructure, operating systems, and networks.
- Document and maintain the current environment for operational and planning purposes.
- Monitor and maintain solutions in the technology space
- Support, install, enhance, and customize network operating systems as required through the Service Desk.
- Maintain business continuity plans to include disaster recovery procedures.
- Maintain a software currency plan, including patch management processes, concerning the in-place solutions.
- Maintain a resource utilization and capacity plan for the storage infrastructure.
- Provide system performance reports to management as requested.
- Provide operational reports regarding system status and performance, problems and resolutions, service level performance, and other such status and performance measures as appropriate.
- Support a dynamic team environment at Vertex by collaborating with other departments, contributing time, effort, and ideas.
- Enhance job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies;
- Occasional travel required.
- Participate in other projects or duties.
