Description:

Systems Engineers at Lux Machina play a crucial role in designing, configuring, installing, and maintaining bespoke Virtual Production video systems. They are responsible for these systems’ integration and reliable function across LED and Projection-based video surfaces with various control surface interfaces. By leveraging cross-disciplinary skill sets from managed networking to video signal management and distribution, our Systems Engineers are the vital bridge between the dense technical knowledge required to install and configure these systems and the skilled operators that program and utilize the software stacks contained therein.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated understanding of video processing, screens management and signal distribution technologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of managed networking environments and fiber distribution.
  • Demonstrated understanding of designing and building video systems for production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in the setup and initial configuration of media server platforms such as Disguise or Pixera within the scope of hardware functionality, configuration and proper connectivity to infrastructure equipment.
  • Experience with the setup, configuration and operation of broadcast and/or film and TV Camera systems.
  • A Conceptual understanding of Camera tracking technologies.
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems.
  • Understanding of Windows management applications (WMIC/WDS) and some experience in batch or powershell scripting.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in complex, integrated systems.
  • Familiarity with visual effects, film production, and broadcast engineering workflows.
  • Familiarity with Vectorworks software and real-time platforms like Unreal Engine.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Google Workspace, Slack and Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively expand on base systems designs to appropriately suit the needs of specified job requirements.
  • Utilizing an expanded systems design, build and configure bespoke video playback and distribution systems.
  • Work in conjunction with the logistics team to ensure proper shipment of constructed systems, subrented equipment, new equipment purchases and various other systems related needs.
  • Onsite installation and integration of systems at varying scales.
  • Work closely with other onsite production departments to ensure distributed signals are correctly integrated and configured.
  • Provide Post Mortem feedback to help shape design strategies for future systems.
  • Engage with Research and Development groups in the maintenance and development of Virtual Production technologies.
  • Contribute to team efforts in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
