The Systems Engineer will play a leading role in a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative solutions for our domestic and international customers in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) domain.
The Systems Engineer will work within the Systems Team to analyse system concepts, define requirements, create and document the system design and interfaces, define and manage subsystem requirements, and verify/validate the system to ensure it fulfils the Customer’s requirements and needs. They may also act as Project Engineer on nominated projects, providing engineering leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams.

Job Description
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide the primary technical interface to Customers, Partners and Suppliers.
- Define and document the Technical Solution during bids and support the Program Manager in cost estimation.
- Using your engineering skills undertake projects from concept through to in-service, designing Sonar or underwater Acoustics systems across a wide variety of projects.
- Define and manage system and subsystem requirements.
- Conduct trade studies to evaluate different potential design solutions.
- Contribute to the System Design, through functional and non-functional analysis.
- Support the definition and development of an Integration, Verification, and Validation strategy.
- Participate in project lifecycle and technical design reviews.
- Ensure the system complies with all applicable standards and legislative requirements, including contributing to the development of safety artefacts.
- Identify Technical Risk and Opportunities.
- Support the continuous improvement of the Engineering function, including processes and tools.
- Support the maintenance and evolution of our Product Portfolio through collaboration with the Capability Team.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks.
- Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience including defense or other industries with rigorous lifecycle management.
- Capable of acquiring a Canadian/NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company.
- Experience with requirements management including derivation and development of subsystem level requirements.
- Experience with interface definition and control.
- Experience with System Design, through functional and non-functional analysis.
- Experience with Integration, Verification, and Validation activities, including Test Planning, Test Conduct, and Reporting.
- Able to work collaboratively to achieve team goals with strong communication skills and positive attitude.
- Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally to Systems Engineering Lead.
- Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and attentive to details.
- Desired Skills:
- Experience in Maritime Domain, Underwater Warfare, Torpedo Defense or Acoustics.
- Familiarity with Hardware, Software, and Systems engineering lifecycles.
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering Concepts.
- Experience with Requirements management toolsets (DOORs, Jama etc.).
- Motivation and engagement with problem solving in team environment.
