Role
An opportunity to join our fantastic Engineering team here in DCC and make a real difference by bringing your Systems Engineering experience to deliver the next generation Smart Meter and IoT Ecosystem.
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering In Life Change, you be accountable for developing, maintaining the key system engineering policies, principles, framework and artefacts and direct, coach and support project teams in how best to align with DCCs’ System Engineering adopted INCOSE framework standards and
Working alongside the Technical Delivery Leads and DCC architects you will drive adoption of the INCOSE Systems Engineering framework by engaging with and influencing key project stakeholders in the value that systems engineering will bring to DCC customers.
You will be responsible for helping us develop our existing Enterprise Architecture tooling, leveraging your ArchiMate/UML skills to help us deliver an agile enterprise architecture fit for future.
We would like you to be familiar with INCOSE certification and if not already certified be on the path to ASEP certification as a minimum.
You will be empowered to shape the adoption of Systems Engineering within DCC. Working with the Technical Management Team you will have the freedom to create and adopt policies to shape this role to ensure we deliver maximum value for DCC and our customers.
This role is a hybrid working model (2 days office based, 3 days remote based per week) and attendance in London, Manchester or Nottingham DCC offices will be required to attend Team workshops

A few of the things you be doing

  • Responsible for the evolution of Systems Engineering principles, artefacts, processes and framework in DCC
  • Responsible for evolving the SEMS/SEMP as the various projects evolves through the DCCs’ System Engineering Life Cycle.
  • Responsible for coaching all actors (internal and external) involved with the delivering of engineering artefacts into DCCs’ chosen Enterprise Tool (Bizzdesign) using ArchiMate/UML
  • Responsible for evolving the Way-of-Working in DCC to streamline System Engineering adoption and improve the quality of delivered artefacts.
  • Working collaboratively, ensure that the SE model aligns with DCC’s Portfolio and Assurance towers to drive best practices and reduce complexity.
  • Work with the Technical Delivery Leads to assure the System Engineering artefacts and ensuring they can pass the DCC Governance.
  • Be the critical point of contact for everything related to Systems Engineering delivery in DCC and provide guidance, mentoring and advice to the business.
  • Support the administration function in ensuring that the right SE training is identified and delivered by the relevant training partners.

  • It’s very important that you are a team player and can demonstrate our DCC values of “Making a Difference, “Being Accountable” and “Acting with Integrity”
  • Demonstrable experience in a large to medium scale System Engineering implementation and a critical thinker.
  • Experience in the adoption and transformation of new standards across organisations.
  • Understanding standards-based Systems Engineering, e.g., ISO 15288 / INCOSE Systems Engineering handbook.
  • Experience in leading and managing Engineering matrix teams across multi-technology, multi-party solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to various stakeholder groups, including non-technical audiences.
  • Able to see and articulate the bigger picture, but also capable of delving into the detail where necessary.
  • Experience in enterprise modelling, e.g., ArchiMate and UML.
  • Experience in Governance of System Engineering artefacts.
