Description:

Troll VFX, a growing VFX studio in Tampere, Finland, is seeking a hands-on Systems Manager in a versatile role to support this studio of passionate creative artists.
Troll VFX, established in 2012, is a creativity-driven visual effects studio that creates high-quality VFX for the international film industry. As a Systems Manager, you’ll be the backbone of Troll’s technology infrastructure, ensuring the artists, technical team, and supervisors have the tools and support they need to bring their creative visions to life in a secure and modern tech environment.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Guiding and mentoring the tech unit consisting of IT support and Technical Artists, and fostering a strong technical foundation for the studio
  • Overseeing high-performance storage platforms and systems, ensuring smooth workflow for rendering and complex simulations
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex IT issues with a deep understanding of large-scale networks and infrastructure
  • Identifying and eliminating storage or network bottlenecks, optimizing performance across the studio
  • Managing data centers, ensuring efficient operations and security
  • Overseeing technology purchasing, staying within budget, and acquiring the right tools for the job
  • Managing software licenses and maintaining strong vendor relationships
  • Ensuring the studio’s IT Infrastructure is compliant with the security requirements of the VFX Industry
