Description:

Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £25,747 - £29,852 (SCP 18-25)
Good critical systems provide the essential bedrock for our work. The Systems Team at Rossie keeps our organisation running smoothly by resolving complex hardware, software, server and infrastructure issues, with both on-site and on-call capacity for our operations. You will work with the Senior Systems Technician, reporting to the Service Manager, Business & Facilities.
As a Systems Technician, you will be responsible for working to implement and maintain critical infrastructure elements, as well as day to day support to meet our present and future operational needs.
Besides your day to day activities, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in projects and innovate. You will be a key part of our team and thrive in delivering high-quality results and always be on the lookout for improvements.

USE AND MAINTENANCE OF CCTV SYSTEM AS REQUIRED:

  • Under the direction of the Senior Leadership Management Team, produce media for internal or external use e.g. Police, Child Protection etc.
  • Along with ICT colleagues, ensure that Rossie servers are operationally effective at all times and escalate any faults as required to ensure operational efficiency and integrity
    Please note: The Systems Technician undertakes physical work e.g. working in confined spaces (possibly under the 48 inch crawl space); lifting up to 40 kg; site cleanliness and systems maintenance work; accessing elevated spaces (working at height).

QUALIFICATIONS (ESSENTIAL):

General secondary education with demonstrated strength in IT related subjects

QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRABLE):

  • Vocational systems / IT / ICT studied for/as part of a further education qualification
  • Vendor certification of the following: Systems Support, LAN and Wireless technologies

SKILLS (ESSENTIAL):

  • Strong analytical skills with proven problem-solving ability
  • Computerised Facilities knowledge
  • Proven ability to operate in high pressure situations, successfully handle multiple competing priorities and possess a high level of discipline while displaying a high degree of flexibility and professionalism

SKILLS (DESIRABLE):

  • Ability to develop clear and concise documentation
  • Digital and analogue telecoms knowledge. Mobile technologies knowledge would be advantageous

EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL):

  • Working in a customer-facing technical support role
  • Thorough technical aptitude

EXPERIENCE (DESIRABLE):

  • An operational background in Systems Maintenance
  • Access control (ACT or equivalent)
  • CCTV (combined digital and analogue systems)
  • Fire detection (ADT)
  • Key management
  • Integrated systems (e.g. Genesys)
  • Building Management (e.g. Cylon)
  • Telecoms (Siemens PBX, analogue, ISDN, SIP, VOIP)
  • Mobile services
  • Cabling, switches and digital infrastructure
  • Implementing projects and technical task execution

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure technical systems to support other business processes and ensure organisational effectiveness including any follow up as required
  • Throughout the organisation, ensure that there is a systematic approach to upgrade and maintenance of all technical systems and processes
  • Ensure adequate maintenance of relevant maintenance and repair records for all technological systems;
  • Identify, plan and, where appropriate, consult on areas of Rossie technological systems and operations which need attention/development
