Description:

Talent Acquisition Specialist - Global Ops & Global R&D
Life Unlimited.
At Smith+Nephew, we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living!
As Talent Acquisition Specialists/Recruiters we often occupy a very privileged position in a business where we get a high and broad vantage point, and a comprehensive view of what a company does from department to department. Why is that important? Well, at a business like Smith+Nephew it means we get to see a large section of the product life cycle and our customer interaction, and when the products we design and manufacture exist to help patients, that’s an exceptionally privileged position.
What will you be doing?
This role is based at our manufacturing site in Hull and will be the TA presence on site delivering recruitment strategies for our Global Operations and Global R&D leaders and hiring managers in the UK, Ireland and Nordics (UKINor). We need leadership and agility to work alongside these partners in the business who have high standards and expectations. Recruitment is often reactionary, people sometimes want the timelines to align to yesterday rather than tomorrow; this will make the role challenging from time to time. It will certainly make it fast paced, but what it also needs is a strength of character to stick to a process, trust your instinct and expertise and deliver something that’s accurate time and time again. When that happens, you gain trust and credibility through the work you do day in and day out. Make recruitment simple, make it repeatable and deliver quality candidates to our business leaders across multiple functions in the UKINor.
After that, it’s about building credible recruitment strategies for each individual position you recruit for working in partnership with hiring managers, HR and all others involved in the process. Alongside that there will be opportunity to improve our function, processes and the service we offer through projects and other continuous improvement initiatives.
What does success look like?
Success in the role will be determined by multiple aspects. Obviously we measure and monitor performance, look for areas of improvement as a function and ensure we’re delivering a service that meets standards and offers value.
However, the biggest measure of success comes from positive relationships with hiring managers that are solutions orientated. The end goal and ultimate success will be the leadership and expertise you would offer to partners and hiring managers, essentially taking ownership and accountability of the areas you recruit.

Successful candidates would need the following:

  • Experience in a TA/Recruitment function, preferably in a large matrixed organisation delivering recruitment activities across multiple functions and departments
  • Experience developing sourcing strategies that deliver hard to find candidates in a highly competitive marketplace
  • Proven track record of success in delivering for customers
