Position Purpose
Under occasional supervision, will serve as a strategic partner to the organization, ensuring alignment of business objectives with policies and practices that lead to effective leadership behaviors and an excellent employee experience. This role requires strong partnerships with teams, Legal, and people leaders to formulate, recommend and execute both proactive and reactive solutions for employee issues in a fair and empathetic way.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and support to “people managers” on matters such as individual development plans, performance improvement, job changes and promotions, employee relations and terminations.
- Continually evaluate and contribute to developing and improving processes, systems and tools to support talent management initiatives.
- Respond timely to employee and manager questions related to company policies, guidelines and processes.
- Conduct workplace investigations with empathy and fairness and provide guidance and recommendations for fair and equitable problem resolution to leadership.
- Conduct exit interviews and offboarding of employees to analyze and provide feedback to HR leadership on themes and opportunities.
- Assist with development and delivery of company-wide employee training programs including employee and leadership development, insurance and underwriter training, and tuition reimbursement programs.
- Develop and conduct training for assigned business groups as requested.
- Utilize Workday to create effective campaigns to engage learners, track development, provide learning insights on trends and build a culture of learning.
- Assist with content creation for RLI U. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content relevance and effectiveness.
- Promote and administer company-wide mentor program and related dashboard.
- Assist with administration of employee and organizational surveys to assess various areas including leadership and supervisory effectiveness and employee morale and effectiveness. Deliever results to department leaders as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with talent management and total rewards functions to execute talent strategies that meet ongoing and future business needs.
- Support the planning, implementation and maintenance of performance and talent management processes.
- Manage special projects when needed.
Education & Experience
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational communication, or in a related field
- 2+ years of related experience
- [OR] equivalent level of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
- Ability to use analytical methods in the overall human resources function to find creative yet workable solutions.
- Ability to use all Microsoft Office products adeptly.
- Ability to use spreadsheet software to summarize and analyze large amounts of employee data.
- Demonstrates excellent organization and prioritization skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Maintains the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
- Ability to provide direction to managers in the areas of employee relations, performance management, learning and development, employee engagement, corporate policies and guidelines, employment processes and HR systems.
- Considerable knowledge of employee relations and ability to manage workplace investigations.
- Effectively applies talent management processes and tools to support strategic business objectives.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of standard office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
