Description:

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a high-pressure system, capable of providing two colliding micro water jets inside a vacuum that form a liquid leaf.
  • Ensure the leaf can be operated stable and reliable for long periods of time.
  • Select and integrate the appropriate sensors to monitor the fluid flow and the pressure.
  • Develop an automated control and regulation system to track stable operation which adjust the flow parameters to compensate disturbances.
  • Utilize a PID regulation or machine learning to improve performance.
  • Participate in laser plasma experiments to accelerate ions at high repetition rates.
  • Coordinate your work with other team members and use an existing prototype for testing.
  • Integrate the target in a vacuum system with appropriate diagnostic systems.
  • Optimize the existing design and build a more compact and usable target.
  • Integrate the target into the first dedicated laser-driven ion, x-ray and neutron source and operate together with the other team members.
  • Work together with the experimental team to ensure proper alignment with the laser.
  • Analyze experimental data to improve the performance.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges regarding the hardware and software.
  • Document your process and communicate with the team lead the results.

EDUCATION:

  • Master or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Fluid dynamics or related field
