Description:

The members of Steelcase’s Global Tax team are resident at business centers in both Grand Rapids, Michigan (USA) and Cluj-Napoca (Romania). The tax team is seeking a Tax Administrative Professional who is motivated and willing to work in a global environment, by supporting the Global Tax Team with various administrative and professional tasks. The Tax Team is involved in managing compliance, transfer pricing, tax planning, income tax accounting, tax audits and other topics related to tax. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with people from different countries, but mainly with the teams in Cluj, Romania and Grand Rapids, United States.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or similar work experience in Tax/Finance
  • Organizational skills: Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills including Web navigation and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of SAP would be a plus. Solid understanding of terminology and tools relevant to the position.
  • Communication skills: Expresses thoughts clearly and succinctly, orally and in writing; tailors communications for different audiences. Listens well and asks probing questions.
  • Personal skills: Self-motivated, energetic, positive attitude, willing to learn and able to work in a team atmosphere across geographies (North America, EMEA, APAC)
  • Fluent in English

Responsibilities:

Support the global tax team with administrative responsibilities:

  • Process various tax payments to the authorities
  • Create purchase orders and process invoices from vendors
  • Track and reconcile spending with various external advisors’ contracts
  • Schedule various recurring meetings
  • Gather information and supporting documents for tax audits
  • Maintain the legal entity org chart while working with the legal team
  • Support the rollover of data in various tax department IT programs (Corptax, TOM, etc.)

Support the global tax team with professional responsibilities:

  • Prepare responses to U.S. state tax notices
  • Prepare basic U.S. state tax returns and proformas
  • Prepare U.S. gross receipts and other franchise returns
  • Prepare U.S. property tax filings
  • Prepare basic estimated tax calculations
  • Prepare unclaimed property filings
  • Prepare and file U.S. census reports
  • Prepare some of EMEA Intrastat returns and review the tax intern’s work
  • Support the EMEA tax team with the closing responsibilities (e.g. clearing of the accounts, coordinating with the tax intern during the close period)
