About this opportunity:
Our tax team is seeking a self-starter to join our collaborative team. This exciting role will be working primarily with the audit defense team and supporting the compliance team. This is a job best suited for a candidate that has previous experience in tax compliance work or experience working with taxation authorities. The candidate will require strong technical tax skills and the ability to prepare technical responses to CRA queries. They will have the ability to multi-task and are a self-starter with high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet internal and external deadlines.

What you’ll do:

  • Working on the resolution of CRA audits through investigation of issues and preparation of responses for audit queries
  • Ensure appropriate and timely responses that consider the past positions and future open audit exposures as well as the evolving legislative framework
  • Applying strong tax technical skills (both breadth and depth) to interpret and apply tax legislation, case law and commentary
  • Maintaining a strong professional relationship with CRA audit team
  • Prepare Canadian corporate income tax returns, information returns and elections including related research, analysis and file preparation and other necessary filings as required
  • Work with other functions in Tax Department, Finance department and operations as required
  • Respond to ad hoc internal requests as required

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Minimum 4+ years of corporate income tax experience
  • A Bachelors’ degree in finance or accounting with completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Courses level I and II is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge with SAP (running GL details, financial information, etc.) is desirable
  • Oil and gas industry experience is desirable
  • A high degree of initiative, self-motivation and inter-personal skills
