POSITION SUMMARY:

The tax analyst is responsible for assisting in preparing and filing various tax returns and processing tax payments, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing support for tax-related projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of tax principles.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • 2+ years of experience with Payroll tax preparation, with an emphasis on mid-size to large companies with multiple states and localities
  • US Federal Income Tax and/or State and Local Tax background required.
  • Team player is willing to assist other accounting team members with tasks as needed associated with bank reconciliation objects.
  • Proactive attitude, committed to delivering high-quality service and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve complex payroll tax issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate payroll tax concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Master Tax and PEO experience are a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of data files, XML, ICECA, W2 (SSA Formats), NACHA banking file uploads, FTP portal, some understanding of file specification instructions
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (particularly Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint, and BI)
  • Pro, Prism, Microsoft GP (Dynamics), QuickBooks and Confluence Software
  • Fundamentals of Payroll (FPC) certification or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in preparing and filing federal, state, and local tax returns for client businesses and Employer Flexible as the PEO for multiple clients and the processing of tax payments as assigned.
  • Conduct and research analysis of tax issues, laws, and regulations to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and other documentation to support tax filings and audits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external auditors, and tax authorities to resolve tax-related inquiries andissues.
  • Organize and maintain tax files, documents, and records in accordance with established procedures andretention policies.
  • Stay up to date on changes to tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards, and communicate potentialimpacts to stakeholders.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees, clients, management, and tax authorities, including but not limited to,payroll taxes, deductions, filings, tax payments, and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives including but not limited to tax compliance, processimprovement, planning, and reporting as assigned.
  • Provide general administrative support to the tax department, including filing, photocopying, scanningnotices, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing tax projections, forecasts, and estimates to support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Assist in developing and implementing tax planning strategies to optimize tax efficiency and minimize risk.
