SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in business and/or accounting.
- Experience with T2s and T1044s for Strata Corporations and/or other relevant tax experiences.
- Previous accounting experience and knowledge of how to read financial statements are considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills will be essential in this role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build great relationships and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office is considered an asset.
- Must have demonstrated commitment, loyalty, and a high standard of work ethics in their current role.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for managing and preparing the tax return filings (T2 and T1044s) for our
strata corporation clients.
- Work with management to ensure that internal controls are being maintained and reviewed and implement internal control processes as required.
- Coordinate with external auditors to provide the audit information requested and manage and track audits and tax returns undertaken by strata clients. Review audit management letters to resolve issues identified by the external auditors and make recommendations on system and process improvements to the accounting department.
- Collaborate with teams to develop and implement best practice policies and procedures to meet set objectives
- Responsible for other tax or regulatory filings including but not limited to: GST filings, PST refund applications, Underused Housing Tax filings and correspondences with CRA.
- Communicate and work with inter-office department teams, including but not limited to: Operations, Administration and Human Resources.
- Any ad-hoc reports or internal projects as directed by the Controller or Vice President of Client Accounting.
