- Recognised qualified accountancy/tax qualification with appropriate technical competencies.
- US tax accounting experience and working knowledge of tax accounting in a multi-state retail environment.
- Experience across Microsoft Dynamics (D365), retail, multi-currency, multi-site, & experience of working with overseas subsidiaries highly desirable.
- A good understanding of business structure and the importance of accuracy of nominal ledger postings.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Strong investigatory, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience working to tight deadlines within a small team and help others within the team wherever possible.
- Proactive approach to work and a desire to streamline processes to increase productivity across the team, with strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
As our Tax Compliance Accountant - US, you will be accountable for:
- Overseeing corporate tax filings, estimated payments, and serve as main contact with external tax advisors.
- Managing sales and international tax filings via Avalara, file multi-jurisdiction property taxes, and verify tax rates for retail locations.
- Ensuring compliance by researching tax issues, tracking changes, managing audits, and updating the tax database.
- Conducting Finance User Acceptance Testing for accounting system updates due to regulatory changes or new projects.
- Supporting month-end processes with reconciliations, journal entries, and coordination to meet Group deadlines.
- Assisting with audits, centralise tax accounting, and continuously improve efficiency.
- Promoting best practices, promptly address issues, and foster collaboration within the tax team.
- Driving team efficiency, cover roles as needed, and support ad hoc projects
