Job Description
As a Tax Compliance Assistant Manager based in Edinburgh with our corporate finance team, you’ll work with the Head of International Tax in London to support with tax compliance and related accounting responsibilities for Verisk’s non-US operations. The successful candidate will be given the freedom to work independently and manage their own workload. They will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with external tax advisors, the Verisk tax team globally and the Verisk finance teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting concepts, experience with both VAT and Corporate Tax compliance and some exposure to tax accounting.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory account tax provisions for UK companies
- Support with Indirect tax compliance for EMEA and APAC countries:
- Prepare data for external tax advisors
- Perform the first review of VAT / GST returns
- Prepare VAT / GST reconciliations under US GAAP and local GAAP and prepare adjusting journals
- Manage VAT / GST payments
- Support with corporation tax compliance for non-US countries:
- Prepare data for external tax advisors
- Perform the first review of corporate tax returns
- Manage corporation tax payments
- Support with the preparation of the UK PAYE Settlement Agreement return and other employment tax filings as needed
- Support with other tax compliance and administrative processes for the wider Tax department as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Accounting or tax qualification (CA, ACA, CTA, ACCA)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel – familiarity with pivot tables, look ups and other data manipulation capabilities)
- Self-starter and strong attention to detail and ability to perform self-review to ensure data integrity and accuracy
- Quick learner with good organizational and oral/written communication skills
- Work well to collaborate across various teams, including accounting, internal/external audit, business units, corporate tax, FP&A, Finance Systems and Reporting, etc.
- Effective documentation, teamwork, communication, and multi-tasking skills are required
- Ability to complete work within deadlines
