REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management, preferably in a big 4 or equivalent environment with a focus on international tax
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and find solutions to problems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE…

We’re looking for an adept and skilled tax manager to complement our Group finance team in Belgium.
As a key member of our finance department, you’ll ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations and contribute to our goal of maintaining financial accuracy at our organisation. You will also oversee all tax-related functions, overseeing of the local tax returns filings, managing tax audits, be involved in group restructurings, be actively involved in M&A related matters. In short, be the trusted tax advisor to Management.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in internation tax law and regulations, experience managing tax compliance and a passion for providing tax advice.

OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE

  • Developing and maintaining tax plans, compliance procedures and risk assessment frameworks, to ensure effective tax management.
  • Managing and overseeing the filing of regular tax returns.
  • Collaborating with finance and accounting teams abroad to ensure our tax strategies and policies are implemented accurately per national tax compliances.
  • Identifying, tracking and reporting any potential tax risks or issues and working closely with the accounting teams to implement appropriate solutions.
  • Be a key advisor to the CFO and other key management.
  • Be a key contributor in M&A related matters (e.g. ADD, integration, etc.).

YOUR TASKS

  • Review tax returns and ensure that other tax requirements are met in respect of withholding tax returns for interest, dividends, etc.)
  • Assist local accountant in ensuring local tax compliance and maintain documentation and records related to tax filings, provisions and other tax-related activities.
  • Prepare and file the transfer pricing formalities and provide ad-hoc assistance to the local teams with their local transfer pricing compliance
  • Monitor the correct implementation of the transfer pricing policies of the companies (services and financing)
  • Support Tax reporting process (annual reporting in support of the Group consolidation)
  • Support the development of the Tax control framework
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of taxes to provide expert advice on tax planning and opportunities to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits, inquiries and notices from tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams, such as finance, legal and operations, to ensure alignment and coordination on tax matters.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on financial and tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
  • Stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations in the countries where we are present and proactively identify potential risks or opportunities for the organisation.
  • Foster a culture of tax compliance and awareness throughout the organisation, providing training and support as needed.
  • Manage Tax due diligence.
