We are expanding our Tax Department and are seeking a Tax Manager to lead and manage multiple Canadian tax engagements, become a trusted tax advisor for our firm, and a valued mentor to our Tax Team.

Responsibilities:
- Implement or effect basic corporate reorganizations for tax purposes including tax free rollovers, engagement planning, the collection of data, the development of step plans and building direct client relationships.
- Review of legal documents such as corporate minute books, articles of incorporation, purchase agreements, and amalgamation agreements to identify tax issues and opportunities.
- Correspond with clients to address tax compliance issues.
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts, and highlights resulting from the client engagement.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Identify tax opportunities and develop/implement tax strategies to maximize tax engagements and achieve qualitative outcomes.
- Maintain high-quality control of work by reviewing personal tax returns and other tax projects (T4, T5, T3, tax audits, etc.) prepared by members of the tax team for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members.
- Collaborate with Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers, to provide complex tax planning strategies to clients.
- Collaborate with Assistant Manager to review project timelines against targets and adjust or address where necessary.
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
Liaise and correspond professionally with clients, colleagues, and the firm leadership team.Oversee the Tax Team offering support, guidance, and mentorship.
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act, CAS and Canadian Review Standards.
- CPA (CA, CMA or CGA) or other accounting designation and current membership with CPA Canada.
- Completion or near completion of the CPA In-depth Tax Course or Master of Taxation (MTax) program .
- A minimum of 4 years in a similar role within public accounting (accounting firm).
- Extensive individual/corporate/partnership tax knowledge.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to clearly explain complex tax and business issues to clients.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple assignments in an organized manner.
- Strong self-starter with strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of CaseWare, Jazz IT and Tax Cycle is an asset.
- Excellent people management skills.
