Description:
We are looking for a Tax Preparer to join our client’s team in Wilmington, Ohio. You will be tasked with preparing tax returns, utilizing specific accounting software systems, and providing exceptional customer service. This position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and will become a hybrid role once you’ve proven yourself.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with a diverse range of individuals and families on tax issues, getting information on income, expenses, credits, allowances and more
- Estimate return preparation time and complexity after a quick initial assessment, and complete one project as quickly and thoroughly as possible before moving on to the next
- Keep clients’ taxes as low as feasible through legally allowable credits, deductions and adjustments
- Explain and simplify tax concepts that are often complicated, and give tax planning tips and advice as applicable
- Help people who owe tax to plan for their payments, and assist clients who need help getting refunds deposited
- Check relevant tax law, including statues and handbooks, to ensure proper compliance
- Informing clients or employers on the tax preparation process
- Collecting relevant financial records, including pay stubs and income statements
- Inputting data from financial records into tax return software or databases
- Using applicable federal, state and local tax law to determine deductions and how much each client will pay or earn on the return
- Completing and filing tax documents with appropriate agencies, like the IRS, state and local government entities
- Acting as a representative for clients with applicable agencies as required
- Building customer relationships to promote and expand the business
- Prepare tax returns for various income groups, such as businesses and individuals
- Be able to deal with multiple clients at once.
- Be able to communicate with clients in person, by phone or in writing.
- Make judgments about whether client’s needs are being met and whether additional service is necessary
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Tax Preparer
- Proficiency in tax preparation is essential
- Knowledge and experience with IRS tax procedures and guidelines
- Experience in preparing federal tax returns and federal income tax returns
- Should possess strong customer service skills
- Familiarity with income tax accounting is required
- Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in the use of tax preparation software and other related technology
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred
- Certification as a Tax Preparer is a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
