Description:

A team of professionals based in London, Frankfurt, Paris and The Hague serves the firm’s European tax requirements. This team comprises tax consultants, accountants and lawyers and is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s tax affairs, including structuring, managing and overseeing compliance, tax planning and advice in relation to remuneration and employee tax matters.
The Tax Department wishes to expand its footprint in Frankfurt and is seeking an Associate to work with senior Goldman Sachs tax, finance and revenue-division professionals in support of our Goldman Sachs EMEA entities and branches. In addition, further assistance will be required in the area of EMEA project management. The role is extremely broad and will require you to build on your existing tax knowledge to assist the team, as well as working on other ad hoc projects.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- The successful candidate is in possession of a university or equivalent degree preferably with Tax as main subject and a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ relevant tax knowledge gained through work experience as a tax accountant, tax lawyer or a member of the tax department in the financial industry. International tax experience is beneficial.
- Good experience with EU direct tax compliance and operational taxes
- Good understanding of different accounting standards
- Fluency in English
- Excellent data analytical skills
- Very good work-organization and high attention to detail
- Team player, excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with a strong client service attitude
- Microsoft Office skills
Responsibilities:
Assisting the department in:
- Tax compliance
- Overseeing all tax filing, tax reporting and tax payment obligations for entities and branches in multiple jurisdictions
- Analysing and managing the entities and branches tax positions and tax risks according to different accounting standards for the relevant entities and branches
- Ensuring timely and accurate closing process including management of the relevant entities and branches current and deferred taxes and the reporting to US headquarter
- Work closely with other teams on the implementation of Pillar2 reporting, CbCr, tax transparency and other EU initiatives
- Partnering with international group functions, providing tax input and advice during cross-functional projects and restructurings
- Managing tax audits and develop defence strategies for tax audits
- Keeping strong relations with tax authorities and regulators
- Actively monitoring external developments and analysing their relevance for Goldman Sachs
- Business advice
- Advice on operational taxes, documentation and filing requirements
- Advice and support of ongoing business and business growths in EMEA
- Tax processes
- Preparing and maintaining documentation to support tax processes undertaken in the different EMEA offices (TCMS)
