Job Description:
As a Tax Research Summer Intern, you will learn the complexities of the indirect taxes and VAT Returns. You will also learn how to research jurisdictions using various sources to keep our product’s content up to date. Interns will learn portions of our processes on how we update our systems to produce monthly data updates for our customers using our products. You will utilize various technology tools to achieve overall results and project success including utilizing our Vertex VAT Compliance product.
Essential job functions AND responsibilities:
- Keep track of sources where (e-)compliance changes are announced and maintain links to the right tax office websites. Monitor these changes in VAT legislation on a continuous basis and obtain information on the (e-) compliance (changes) from tax authorities.
- Research on new countries to implement.
- Miscellaneous initiatives required by our staff to maintain our various software products.
- Provide daily ad-hoc support to team members. Actions items and daily activities will change based on priorities.
- Works collaboratively with team leadership on defining and refining the overall project roadmap, the necessary milestones and delivery timing.
Knowledge, SKILLS, and abilities:
- Experience with Microsoft Office (including Excel).
- Demonstrated experience in a team-based environment.
- Interested in Tax and Technology.
- Highly energetic with ability to work independently and with minimal direction.
- Must be outgoing and can connect with individuals on the phone.
- Written and verbal communicative skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and creative.
- Proven record of providing excellent customer service.
EDUCATION, TRAINING:
- Applicants should be pursuing a degree through an Accredited University - preferably students at year 2 or higher.
- Majoring in Accounting or Management Information Systems or another Business-related field
- Show a demonstrated interest in the tax technology industry and a passion for the Vertex brand.
