As a TCA Financial Systems Consultant 2 you will provide consultative services in the review, development, and implementation of initiatives focused on the optimization of PeopleSoft Financial Modules functionality to meet business needs. This focus will also include providing recommendations to leadership on the use and integration of systems with corporate financial policies and business processes. Primary duties include:
- Collaborate on the design, development, and documentation of innovative and productive financial system solutions in support of enhanced master data integrity and financial reporting.
- Provide Financial systems support and guidance to users to facilitate understanding of data input and data capture for reporting and analytical purposes and being the primary support for Business Objects.
- Provide input and guidance to Tangible Capital Asset (TCA) users regarding the financial policy implications of existing or anticipated business activities in the system process.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings and projects to provide leadership, financial expertise and advice.
- Coordinate between system users and systems technical staff to facilitate a shared understanding and solutioning of business issues with cost effective solutions.
- Review existing and potential financial and information Technology (IT) system policies of other municipalities and governments related to systems handling of accounting/financial data and identify changes that would be relevant to the City of Calgary policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A professional accounting designation such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and at least 4 years of progressively more responsible financial accounting experience.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- Extensive financial experience from both a corporate and operational perspective and expert knowledge of financial and accounting processes.
- Advanced systems, analytical, and reporting experience.
- Advanced knowledge of financial software, data analysis, and report development tools such as SAP Business Objects, Power BI, Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
- Coursework or proficiency in Standard Query Language (SQL).
- Hands on experience supporting the PeopleSoft Asset Management and project costing modules.
- Success in this position requires strong financial, systems technology, and analytical skills; the ability to effectively communication and organize, and the ability to work with a diverse team.
