DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. For over two decades, the organization has established competitive market positions in active, quantitative, and passive portfolio management. As of March 31, 2023, TDAM and its affiliates manage over $421 billion in assets on behalf of pension, insurance, endowment/foundation, and corporate clients, as well as high-net worth clients and retail mutual funds.
In attaining this client commitment, TDAM has built one of Canada’s largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers, Associate Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Analyst program provides on-the-job training through rotations in various departments within TDAM and involving assignments in key departments such as investment management, risk management, business strategies, product management, client portfolio management, research and trading. The anticipated duration of this assignment is normally 18 to 24 months.
Application & Interview Process: Application requirements include; CV, cover letter, and transcript. Two rounds of interviews, combination of behavioral and take-home case.
Accountabilities include:

Role:

  • Learn about the investment management industry and work in a collaborative team environment
  • Utilize strong quantitative and coding skills to accurately analyze portfolio risk exposures and strategy performance
  • Create client reports, prepare presentations for a variety of audiences, participate in the due diligence process
  • Complete complex financial analyses on client portfolios, companies and industries
  • Assist with building and reviewing internal models, tools, processes, policies, presentations, and other related materials; challenge team and improve the underlying processes of the functional area
  • Update / initiate / present research reports (equity or credit) to the investment management teams
  • Learn and participate in the research, analysis and implementation of investment ideas
  • Involve and support business strategy, risk assessment and product management
  • Uses sound judgement and understanding of process/policy risk when recommending exceptions outside general practices or guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

The candidate must be enrolled in the final year of studies and on track for graduation by June 2025 with an undergraduate degree.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Graduating from an Undergraduate program in 2025, with the pursuit of a CFA designation considered an asset
  • Excellent Communication Skills – both written and verbal
  • Business, finance, mathematics or quantitative skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Experience in financial modeling and coding (ex. Python) would be an asset
  • Proactive attitude, demonstrated ability and desire to work in a vigorous, fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain attention to detail under demanding timelines
  • Strong foundation in business acumen, problem solving skills and analytical capabilitiesBilingual in French/English would be an asset
