The Parkland School Division currently has a Probationary/Continuing Part-Time (0.6 FTE) Teaching position at Ecole Broxton Park School in Spruce Grove, Alberta. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Parkland School Division is seeking a dedicated and compassionate educator to join our specialized team supporting a student with complex learning needs (Autism Spectrum) with an individualized program. This role involves working in a collaborative environment with another staff member to provide individualized support, develop targeted learning strategies, and foster a safe, learning experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Education with a focus on Special Education or a related field.
Professional teaching certification in Alberta.
Proven experience working with students on the autism spectrum, with a strong understanding of autism-specific strategies and supports.
Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and social-emotional learning practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with assistive technology and other adaptive tools for learning.
Professional development or certifications in autism spectrum disorder or related behavioral support methods.
This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement an individualized educational plan that aligns with the student’s unique learning and behavioral needs.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including educational assistant, Complex Needs Facilitator (behavioural specialist), Student Services staff, and parents, to support student success.
Employ a range of instructional techniques to support student engagement, communication, and skill development.
Provide proactive behavioral support and utilize strategies to help manage transitions, self-regulation, and social interactions.
Monitor, assess, and document student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as necessary to ensure continued growth and development.
