Teaching Assistant - Elementary

Sage Alliance Lower & Middle School in Mahwah, NJ is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Paraprofessional) to provide classroom assistance to elementary students. Sage Alliance (formerly Sage Day) is a private therapeutic school that serves the academic and clinical needs of students in grades 4 to 8 with social and emotional challenges in a nurturing and supportive environment. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work with individual and small groups of students to provide them with academic help and emotional support to gain optimum benefit from the Sage Alliance program. This position is for the 2024-2025 school year with a start date on August 28, 2024.

• Assist in taking care of the special needs of the students
• Assist with individualized instruction and work with small groups of children
• Complete clerical duties as assigned by the teacher
• Assist students with various projects and curriculum tasks
• Help with the supervision of students on field trips planned by the teacher
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities
• Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
• Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers or other materials for instruction
