TEACHING ASSISTANT (SEND, BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT)
Location: Worthing
Pay: £84 - £97
Hours: 08:30 to 15:30
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to work with primary and secondary-aged pupils who have special educational needs or social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The successful candidate will support students in managing their behaviour, following established behaviour and care plans, and contributing to a positive learning environment.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE/ATTRIBUTES:
- Experience working with those who have special educational needs or behavioural challenges.
- Familiarity with behaviour management techniques.
- A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing attitude.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations and adapt to meet the needs of pupils.
- Understanding of the school’s safeguarding and behaviour policies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications in education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities:
- Support students in managing their behaviour in the classroom and during school activities.
- Follow behaviour and care plans to meet each pupil’s needs.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster a supportive environment.
- Assist in adapting routines to help students feel comfortable and engaged.
- Monitor and provide feedback on students’ progress and behaviour.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a positive classroom setting.
