Successful candidates will have:
- Experimental physics lab skills. Ideally, you will be able to assist in the organisation and delivery of in lecture experimental demonstrations.
- Good equipment and experimental skills.
- Demonstrated relevant teaching experience at a tertiary or secondary institution.
- An ability to relate to a wide variety of people within a teaching and research environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
- Commitment to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.
- An ability to work collegially and independently.
Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Fellow within our Department, your focus will be supporting Jumpstart Physics during Summer School 2025, and teaching within PHSI191 Biological Physics, in Semester one 2025.
JumpStart Physics is designed to prepare students for PHSI191 as part of the Health Science First Year programme and is tailored to students whose training in secondary school physics and mathematics is incomplete.
Key tasks of the role will include:
- Involvement in Jumpstart Physics teaching; providing tutorial support to students.
- Supervising PHSI191 labs and providing tutorial support to students in PHSI191.
- Coordinating assessment marking and ensuring the provision of constructive and timely feedback to students.
- Potentially supporting other undergraduate laboratory teaching in physics.
