TEAM ASSISTANT

Wedlake Bell’s Disputes Group are recruiting a Team Assistant to support the team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a full time, 5 days in the office position.
The Team Assistant will provide legal secretarial and administrative support to the Disputes secretarial team, working alongside them to ensure excellent service is provided both our fee-earners and our clients.
This is an entry-level Team Assistant position, and an excellent opportunity for you to start your career in legal secretarial support. The team offer an excellent working environment, providing first-class training and support, with the opportunity to have an impact in a developing area of law.
We are looking for diligent team player, with an eye for detail, and maintaining high customer services standards.
While we do not require previous secretarial or administrative experience, before applying please familiarise yourself with secretarial services in the legal setting, and demonstrate your interest in the position in your covering letter.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ideally have completed CILEX / City & Guilds Legal Secretarial Diploma, or other relevant Business Administration qualification;
  • Ideally but not essential, some office administration experience;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Good organisation and ability to prioritise effectively;
  • Good communication and telephone manner;
  • High standard of written English and knowledge of English grammar;
  • Knowledge of Word and document formatting;
  • Team player; willing to help others wherever possible;
  • Proactive and positive - takes the initiative on matters and also comfortable with taking direction from Secretaries; and
  • Copes well with mid-to-high volume and/or time-sensitive work.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administration and filing, photocopying, scanning and engrossing of documents;
  • Managing and redirecting telephone calls including taking messages;
  • Collating deeds and producing deeds schedules;
  • Creating/maintaining data rooms;
  • Liaising with Facilities/Accounts and other support departments within the Firm to support the work of Secretaries;
  • As the Firm’s secretaries tend to work together to assist with any overflow work, there may be occasions where it will be expected that assistance is offered to others as and when appropriate; and
  • Other ad hoc tasks as and when requested.
