The Prince George’s County Department of Social Services is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill a Team Lead, HUD, YHDP and Shelter Program Operations position, grade G27 within the Community Services Division.
About the Position:
This is an advanced level position, and the incumbent will be responsible for a substantial number of management, administrative, and supervisory responsibilities that include but are not limited to overseeing the Joint Transitional-Rapid Rehousing, Permanent Supportive Housing, Transitional Crisis, and the Family Emergency Shelter programs directly operated by the agency. This position serves as a member of the Community Services Division leadership team and is supervised/evaluated by the Homeless Continuum of Care Lead.

The Prince George’s County Department of Social Services is in the business of providing opportunities for residents of the County to become independent, responsible and stable members of the community. We do this by providing intervention services that strengthen families, protect children and vulnerable adults, encourage self-sufficiency and promote personal responsibility. We assist our customers through such programs as Temporary Cash Assistance, Food Supplement Program, Medical Assistance, Emergency Assistance, and Foster Care and Adoption Service.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in business or public administration, social services, sociology, psychology, or other field(s),
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional technical, analytical, and developmental work experience
  • Proficient Microsoft Outlook, Office, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • At least one (1) year in a lead/supervisory role supervising people, preferably supervising and managing professionals, paraprofessionals, supervisors, and technical staff
  • Valid Driver’s License
    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
-

Five (5) years of professional administrative, management and/or clinical experience directing staff and activities in the human services field; of which at least three (3) years includes supervisory experience overseeing specific programs and compliance initiatives; supervising and managing professionals, paraprofessionals, supervisors, and technical staff.

  • Evidence of experience in a leadership role within the specified disciplines.

  • Expert communicator/public speaker
  • Proficient analytical, research, strategic planning, and management skills
  • Proven financial, budgetary, and contacting experience.
  • Proven success writing, securing, and implementing federal, state, county, and philanthropic grants.
  • Expert program development, management, and evaluation skills
  • Experience working with and leading groups in a collaborative environment and ability to balance a variety of perspectives.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other governmental and bi-county agencies, private organizations, and the general public.
  • Deep understanding of the root causes of poverty and experience delivering effective interventions impacting human service and homeless service delivery systems.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, motivate, evaluate, and counsel subordinate management/ supervisory staff and delegate responsibility to them as appropriate.
  • Bi-lingual fluency in Spanish/English.
  • Lived experience.
  • Experience working in an urban/suburban Human Services Agency.
  • Experience with diversity, equity & inclusion efforts to improve service design and delivery
