MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience in student affairs, event management and/or risk management.
- Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.
- Experience working effectively with diverse student populations.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to an inclusive and diverse environment.
- Proven ability to build professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to make informed decisions within complex policy frameworks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities in fast-paced settings.
- High initiative and dedication to exceptional student service.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree.
- Familiarity with the student life cycle, student services, university administration, university and student governance, and University of Alberta Policies and Procedures.
- Familiarity with student conduct.
- Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of Student Affairs Advisors.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work culture and support professional growth.
- Assist with budget planning and act as a backup for the Manager, Student Affairs.
- Manage the recognition, event planning, and risk management processes for student groups.
- Oversee high-risk and complex events, ensuring safety and compliance with university policies.
- Maintain accurate records and collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Students’ Union.
- Provide guidance to student leaders and address student group conduct issues using restorative practices.
- Lead investigations related to student group conduct and policy compliance.
- Develop and evaluate training programs for student leaders.
- Gather data and conduct assessments to improve processes and inform policy changes.
- Support student engagement initiatives such as orientation and campus-wide events.
- Serve on committees that promote student experience, equity, and inclusion.
